A Galaxy® Glass & Stone proprietary series of architectural glass that is comprised of sandblasted and acid washed light diffusing float glass panels with wide applications in the Lighting, Decorative and Architectural Glass markets. This finish is created by a unique process incorporating both sandblasting and acid washing to ensure consistency and surface uniformity as well as providing a higher level of light diffusion. It also makes hard and reflective surfaces soft, and diffuses light beautifully.
Silkglas® panels are stocked in our manufacturing and distribution facility in Fairfield, New Jersey. We offer a range of thickness’ from 3mm (1/8") to 19mm (3/4”) Clear Float Glass and UltraClear Float Glass monolithic substrates with one surface treated entirely with #80 Standard Matte or #500 Soft Matte finishes as well as other thickness and glass types on a custom basis.
Is available for your immediate use. Our inventory includes sizes up to 96" x 130" and will be Custom Fabricated to your Specifications.
Maintains a clear and uniform appearance regardless of its' handling. The treated surface is a Non-Staining Finish. A mixture of Sulfuric and Floric Acids are utilized to "wash" this glass surface in order to provide a smoother and more uniform finish to the entire Etched surface. This unique Acid Washing technique employs a very sophisticated Neutralizing System which strictly complies with Japanese Environmental Protection Standards and is substantially different from that produced in the other countries.
Available with one or both Surfaces treated. Dimensions, Thickness', and types of Glass (Clear, Ultraclear, Patterned, Silvered) other than our standard inventory stocked at our Fairfield, New Jersey facility, is available by Special Order.
Can be Drilled, Tempered, Engraved, Laminated, Etched and Custom Silvered.
Can be made in a variety of Custom Linear decorative patterns of differing depths, widths and spacing on one or both sides of the panel of Glass. These panels have many interior applications such as Transom Lights, Work Station Lights, Glass Doors, Room Dividers, Furniture, Architectural Wall Panels, Light Diffusing Panels, etc.
Can be Custom Silvered to create our product SilkMirror® in either Monolithic or Laminated Form. SilkMirror® can be combined with other types or colors of glass and mirror for varied aesthetic effects, or to meet Safety Glazing Code or Structural requirements.
